About Empress Green Marble
Green stones sold as "marble" in the tile trade are often not calcite marble. Indian green marble, for example, is described as a recrystallized, metamorphosed limestone containing serpentine, quarried in the Udaipur and Dungarpur districts of Rajasthan. Because green stones can have a different mineral makeup from white or beige marble, general marble care advice may not apply. Ask SoCal Tiles about care for this product.
Verde is the Italian word for green, so names like verde Ming, Verde Alpi and verde green marble are all green stones. Verde Alpi is usually described as a serpentinite, a rock rich in serpentine minerals, rather than a calcite marble. Learn the basics in what is marble or explore the Stone Encyclopedia.
