Quantity & Layout Review

Organize room measurements, tile layout, pattern and waste assumptions before placing a natural-stone order.

Order preparation
Turn measurements into an order-ready conversation

Organize wall and floor dimensions, tile size, pattern, orientation, openings and waste assumptions before a natural-stone order. Your installer remains responsible for field verification and final quantities.

Measure each surface

Separate walls, floors, niches, benches, borders and other tiled areas instead of combining them loosely.

Choose tile and pattern

Straight lay, offset, diagonal, checkerboard and modular layouts can require different planning assumptions.

Account for material variation

Natural stone may require selection, blending and spare material for future repair or replacement.

Installer verifies

Use our review to prepare; have the installer confirm measurements, waste and field conditions before purchase.

What the review considers

Field dimensions

Length, width, height and tiled surface areas for each distinct plane.

Pattern and orientation

Tile dimensions, bond, directional veining, borders and focal alignments.

Cuts and obstacles

Openings, niches, corners, vanities, cabinets and transitions that affect usable coverage.

Overage planning

A project-specific reserve for cuts, natural variation, breakage and later maintenance—not a universal percentage.

Quantity and layout review questions

Is the quantity review a final takeoff?

No. It is an organizational review based on information you provide. A qualified installer must field-verify all dimensions and approve the final order quantity.

How much extra tile should I order?

There is no universal answer. Pattern, tile size, room geometry, natural variation, future repair needs and installer preference all affect overage.

Can I mix tile sizes or patterns?

Often yes, but nominal dimensions, actual dimensions, grout joints and lot availability must be checked together before ordering.

What if my project measurements change?

Pause ordering and have the revised measurements reviewed. The live field condition should always control the final installer-approved quantity.
