Thassos marble texture and look
Thassos marble texture is smooth and even, a clean white that reads almost seamless in larger tiles. White Thassos marble texture changes a little with the finish: polished is glossy and reflective, tumbled is soft and gently worn. Next to Carrara, Statuario and Calacatta, it has far less veining, so it works as a pure white beside them. Not sure which white? About Thassos Marble
Thassos marble takes its name from the Greek island of Thassos, in the northern Aegean. The island is built mainly of gneiss, schist and marble, with marble layers up to about 500 metres thick. The historic quarries were in the south of the island, around Aliki, and marble is still quarried on the island today.
