Natural Stone Color Codes

HEX and RGB codes for 34 of our marble, travertine and dolomite tiles, sampled from real product photos. Use them for mood boards, renders and paint matching. Free to use with a link back to SoCal Tiles.

Natural stone has no single color code. Every slab and tile varies. These are approximate base and vein colors for 34 stones, sampled from our own product photos, for mood boards, renderings and palettes. Screens and lighting change how color looks, so order a sample before you decide.

How we measured these colors

For each stone we took up to three of our own single-stone product photos: field tiles where we have real photographs, otherwise single-stone mosaics. We skipped room scenes and generated reference images. We cropped to the inner part of each tile, removed the background and grout, and took the most common color as the base. The vein (or accent for travertine and onyx, which have banding and pores rather than veins) is the median of the few percent of pixels that contrast most with the base. We then checked every result by eye against the photo and corrected obvious errors, for example grout lines read as veins.

Undertone is warm, cool or neutral from the balance of red and blue in the base color. LRV (light reflectance value, 0 = black, 100 = white) is estimated from the base color's brightness on screen; it is not a lab measurement. For the stones themselves, see the Natural Stone Encyclopedia or order samples.
