Italian marble tile

Italian marble tile is the classic choice for luxury interiors. Bianco Carrara, Calacatta Gold, and Diano Royal are Italian stones in this collection. Comparing the two most popular whites? Read Calacatta vs Carrara.

Marble finishes: polished, honed, and tumbled

Polished marble is shiny and reflective, so veining and crystals really sparkle. Honed marble has a smooth matte surface that hides wear and feels softer underfoot. Tumbled marble has softened edges and an aged look. Select stones also come split-faced or brushed and chiseled for texture. Not sure which to pick? See honed vs polished stone and the polished vs honed marble guide.

What is the best high quality or high-end marble tile?

High quality marble tile has consistent cutting, calibrated edges, and attractive veining, and the stones people call high-end are usually Carrara, Calacatta, and Statuary. Our best sellers are a good shortlist. Order samples from the sample page to judge quality in your own home, and read the same-lot guarantee for consistent color.

What marble tile is dark, black, or deep in color?

For black, choose Nero Marquina. For dark brown, see Emperador Dark, and for dark gray, see gray marble tile. Pair them with white stones in checkerboard tiles for high contrast.

What is the difference between polished and honed marble, and which one is shiny?

Polished marble is the shiny, glossy one, and it makes colors and crystals sparkle. Honed marble is matte and smooth with less glare, and it is the usual pick for floors and showers because it feels less slippery and shows fewer etch marks. See polished and honed marble tile, and the finish guide.

Is marble porous, and how do I seal and clean it?

Yes, marble is a porous stone, so seal it before installation and again as needed. Wipe spills quickly and use a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Our guides cover sealing marble tile, cleaning marble floors, etching vs staining, and removing stains with a poultice.

What sizes does marble tile come in?

Common sizes include 4x4, 6x6, 12x12, 12x24, 18x18, and 24x24, plus 3x6 subway and 4x12 or 6x12 rectangles on select stones. Shop 12x12, 6x6, and large format tile. Use the tile calculator to work out how much you need.

Do you have square, rectangle, or extra large marble tiles?

Yes. Square sizes run from 4x4 to 24x24, rectangles include 3x6, 4x12, 6x12, and 12x24, and our largest field tiles are in the large format collection. Availability depends on the stone, so open a stone collection to see its sizes.

What marble trim, border tile, and nosing do you offer?

We carry marble border pieces such as pencil liners and bullnose liners, plus chair rails, crown molding, and baseboards on key stones. See marble trim, moldings and baseboards and baseboard trim. Check each stone for the profiles it comes in.

How do I lay marble tile?

Start with a flat, clean, stable surface, use a white thin-set suited to marble, and plan your layout before you spread any mortar. Our natural stone tile installation guide walks through the steps, and project planning helps with layout. Need a pro? Find a natural stone contractor.

Can I use marble tile in a shower niche or corner shelf?

Yes. Marble tile is a popular choice to line a shower niche, and corner shelves are available in our shower corner shelves collection. Use honed marble for shower surfaces and seal well. See shower wall tile and shower floor mosaic tile.

What is the difference between marble, limestone, and travertine?

Marble is limestone that has been recrystallized by heat and pressure, which gives it crystals and flowing veins. Limestone is softer and more matte, and travertine is a banded limestone with natural pits. Read what is marble, travertine vs marble, and shop limestone tile and travertine.

Do you sell Turkish marble tile?

Yes. Afyon White, White Pearl Beige Botticino, and Rosso Levanto are Turkish marbles in our line. Afyon is a bright white, Botticino a warm beige, and Rosso Levanto a wine red.

Do you sell marble blocks, pieces, or slabs?
